STP resources continue to play a major role in building and supporting the systems that collect and process taxes, provide assistance to tax preparers, allow taxpayers to interact with the IRS, and give IRS employees the ability to carry out their duties in the most efficient way possible. Our people have:

Architected the first and subsequent releases of the secure, multi-site, multi-platform, distributed modernized infrastructure.

Designed and developed the secure enterprise messaging system that each year supports tens of millions of taxpayer refund status queries, tens of millions of data requests from tax practitioners and IRS employees, and the submission of millions of tax returns.

Led the package evaluation and selection of three enterprise Commercial-Of-The-Shelf (COTS) products that were later adopted by the entire Department of Treasury as an enterprise standard. 

Designed, developed, and upgraded the system that securely communicates sensitive data outside of the IRS realm to trusted external users. 

Integrated and deployed the enterprise authentication and role based authorization system that supports all IRS user communities including application-to-application processing. 

Designed, developed, deployed, and maintained the internal identity management system which supports over 50,000 IRS employees. 

Built the infrastructure for the external identity management system which supports over 300,000 tax professionals. 

Designed, developed, and deployed the NIST compliant identity management solution that supports the entire taxpaying community. 

Implemented a standards based SOAP messaging system utilized by over 20 IRS business systems. 

Designed and maintained the system that protects taxpayer records from unauthorized access by IRS employees and contractors. 

Upgraded the infrastructure to support a multi-site high availability active/active capability. 

Developed enterprise applications in Java, C++, C#, and COBOL.

Acted as a trusted adviser to the IRS portal management office and portal transition, high availability, and enterprise single-sign-on initiatives.
